Dr. Sonya Boggs-Alston, DMFT, LSW

Dr. Sonya  was born in Philadelphia, Pa., and she began working in the field of psychotherapy in 1999. Throughout the past 18 years, she has trained and worked in multiple settings including private and non-profit organizations, universities, community counseling centers, senior centers, outpatient clinics, and government mental health organizations. Dr.  Sonya is the only registered psychoanalyst in the state of Delaware, she is a licensed social worker (in Pennsylvania), she completed her Master of Social Work at Temple University, Philadelphia, PA., her DMFT (Doctorate in Marriage and Family Therapy) at Eastern University, St. Davids, Pa., and her DHA (Doctorate in Health Administration: Global Health) at A.T. Still School of Osteopathic Medicine & Health Professions, Kirksville, MO.   Her specialties include but are not limited to providing psychotherapy, marriage and family counseling, helping individuals overcome: addiction, attention deficit, co-occurring disorders, depression, grief and loss, relationship issues, stress, and trauma. The therapy model that she works from is person centered, non-judgmental and solution focused. In addition, Dr. Sonya explores functions of behaviors that are crippling. Her goal is to help you gain the confidence you desire to break free from all that is holding you back from achieving your goals and living a prosperous life. Dr. Sonya is resourceful, she loves animals,  and she enjoys traveling.
